Green Lanterns #15
Writer: Sam Humphries
Artist: Ronan Cliquet
Colourist: Blond
After such a great arc I was really wondering where this series would go and Sam Humphries continues to not disappoint readers at all. Now I do really get the argument of people that the anxiety and fear theme with Jessica has been treaded before and to some extent is overdone, and I would have to agree.
However this story really hit home for me as I do suffer from anxiety. It’s really interesting to see how Jessica does struggle with panic attacks, and just the overwhelming nature of life. Although Simon does try to be nice, he doesn’t really understand and I would definetly say that Humphries has really done a great job of building the relationship between Simon and Jessica.
Seeing the justice League appear in this issue was something I really liked, as it adds a sense of cohesion to the DC Universe. It is also cool to see that they are becoming a well oiled machine, which is more than can be said for the current Justice League title. However it is funny that Jessica is basically on the Justice League still even though she left.
The art was an improvement from the Phantom Lantern arc, as I really had a problem with how the faces looked, but they were a lot better this time. This was a really nice one-shot issue focusing and giving importance to something everyday people have to suffer through. I cannot wait for the next issue and arc as Batman will be teaming up with the Green Lanterns.
