Superwoman #4
Writer: Phil Jimenez
Artist: Emanuela Lupacchino
Colorist: Hi-Fi
When we heard about the announcement of a Superwoman book, no one really knew what to expect. However the story so far has been amazing, and really enjoyable. It has been one of the most surprising books to come out of rebirth.
This issue wasn’t great. The book only gives us reveals, but these are not reveals to us as readers, but to the characters. It’s revealed that Lena Luthor is behind it, Lana is still dieing and that Lena used Kryptonite man. That is basically the main chunk.
The book gives us Lana talking to herself, who is represented as the dead Lois. So whilst we are seeing them two talk, everyone sees her talking to herself. I get what Jimenez is trying to do however, the dialogue is clunky for the most part, and kind of a slog to get through. Whilst reading this issue I was waiting for something cool or exciting to happen, but nothing really happened.
The art continues to remain great, which is a positive I can give the book. Also plus this is Jimenez, was an artist before and now he is writing, and despite my criticisms, he has actually written a pretty good arc. After all my negatives at least I am excited to see how Lana will face Lena and the Bizzaro’s.
