Weekly Spinner Picks is all about the hot comics of the week and getting to know the tastes of the writers atComics: The Gathering. Each week the CTG contributors spotlight which comics they are most looking forward to on Wednesday and how those picks got to the top of their to-read piles. Let us know if you agree or not with our picks and most importantly don’t forget to add your list!

Stephen, the usual writer of the Spinners, is getting ready to welcome his new baby into the world this coming June. Until things settle down for him, I (Kalem) will be posting the Spinners every Sunday. We've got an awesome week to kick off the month of June and DC's new lineup!

Justice League #41: I was blown away by how much I loved the prologue to Darkseid War in Justice League #40. Geoff Johns set-up an epic Justice League story without featuring any of its members. His weaved his way through the history of the DCU making sense of one of the most convoluted elements of comic books. Johns nailed it with Forever Evil and I'm positive he's going to knock it out of the park with his next big story.

Midnighter #1: I've never read any Authority and I had never heard of Midnighter before DC announced its new titles. I breezed through the list and never took notice until writing an article about the new article. I did a little research on the character and saw a description that said, Midnighter is like a gay Batman who kills people. I can't wait for this book.

Secret Wars #3: Jonathan Hickman is my favourite comic writer working today. Saying that Secret Wars could be his best work yet is really saying something. Hickman has created one of the coolest versions of the Marvel Universe ever imagined and I just can't wait to see him explore it more. I've been a massive fan of his Avengers run and this event has been a standout. I have no idea where this story is going but I don't care, I already know I'm going to love whatever Hickman puts out.

It's a good week for fans of ceature features. Ricardo Delgado returns to the lust prehistoric world of Age of Reptiles with Anciet Egyptians,  the first Age of Reptiles comic in years. Delgado's silent stories of predator and prey are a delight for fans of dinosaurs, squiggly lines, and good art in general.

The animal adventures are little more complicated in TMNT: Mutanimals, whick wraps up with issue #4, and a little more (okay, a lot more) horrifing in Richard Corben's Rat God which ends with issue #5.

Last but certainly not least is th delightfully crude The Humans which returns to the stands with another biker monkey tail. This time, they're out on the highway, delivering super-meth! Gee whiz!
